Lead is an amazing metal, being soft, heavy, highly malleable and ductile; it is also waterproof, corrosion resistant and a poor conductor of electricity. These properties make it an excellent roofing material. Lead stops rain water running into roofing ‘joints’ and therefore protects natural weak points on a roof. These can be valleys, windows, ridges and other areas where the roof meets the stone or brick work of the building. The lead structure diverts the water back onto the roof or into the gutters. Our leadwork includes:
Access Hatches
Bay Windows
Chimney Aprons and Saddles
Dormer Windows
Gutter Valleys
Lead Copings
Lead Chimney Flashings
Lead Collars
Lead Flat Roofs
Lead Lined Gutters
Lead Slates
Lead Valleys
Lead Outlets
Pediments
Pitched Lead Roof Coverings
Step Flashing
Vents
Vertical Cladding
As well as Lead Flat roofs which will last in the region of 120 years and the standard ‘roof protective’ leadwork, we make individual fitments and decorative roof features which are unique to each property.
