In July we were asked to inspect a leaking Eyebrow Dormer by D N Gittoes Builders for one of their customers. Upon investigation we discovered that it had been wrongly constructed when the roof was originally built. An Eyebrow Dormer is a difficult and intricate roof structure where the tiles should 'sweep' over the dormer window. In this project we stripped back the tiles to discover that mortar had been used to try to 'stick' the tiles on. We had to remove this before replacing the old tiles with individually cut tiles which we fixed properly to the roof structure. The correct construction means the Eyebrow Dormer does not need mortar and is now sound on it's own merit. It is also not leaking.
